The Growth Management Department is charged with providing both current and long-range planning, zoning services, building permitting and inspections, and codes enforcement. EFFECTIVE JANUARY 01, 2025
The Lake City Growth Management Department will assume the responsibility for the issuance of permits for Utility Connections to the Lake City Utilities water, sewer and gas utility lines by contractors and homeowners for properties located within Lake City’s city limits and also all Lake City’s utility connections within Columbia County.
The water, sewer, and gas utility connections by the contractor and/or homeowner to the city utility line tap shall be inspected by the utility inspector.
All properties that contain one or more of the following shall have an approved backflow prevention device, tested and certified, on all municipal water supply meters; private water supplies (well), pools and irrigation systems. This inspection shall be made by the utility inspector and must have a copy of the test report.
Please plan accordingly as this may cause delays in the issuance of your Certificate of Occupancy.
