City Events/City Parks
This departments goal is to cultivate the “community feel” in our area and that is what we strive for every day.
Our department facilitates the Makers and Growers Market, attracting approximately 60 vendors each 2nd and 4th Saturday in Downtown Lake City. In addition to the bimonthly market, we also organize and plan the Spring and Holiday market, each drawing approximately 175 vendors to our downtown area and also created a “Junior” Market to encourage young entrepreneurs to get involved at an early age. We have implemented the Downtown BBQ Showdown which will happen every April in Wilson Park/ Darby Pavilion, as well as Food Truck Wednesday at City Hall.
We have also been very instrumental in the Founder’s Day bicentennial celebration, as well as the Farm to Table celebration that commemorated our roots in agriculture and showcased many local farms, businesses and individuals. Not only do we focus on current projects, but we are constantly searching for new ways to draw people to our area, increase business growth and bring back that hometown feeling.
Through the creation of events that focus on community and togetherness, it really opens the door to those who may not have otherwise felt welcome, either as a providing business or an attendee. We do our best to create events that reach all types of people and appeal to a wide variety of individuals…We want everyone to feel welcome and we want them to be excited about what is happening in our city.
