MINIMUM STARTING SALARY:  $21,370.44

 

The City of Lake City is accepting applications for entry-level work going through a training program in water treatment, leading to certification by the State of Florida as a Certified Water Treatment Plant Operator.  Work is performed under the close supervision of WTP Chief Operator and other Certified Operators. The successful trainee must obtain a Class C Water License within twelve (12 months). This training position is limited to a twelve (12) month period that can only be extended for a period of no more than six months upon the recommendation of the Department Director.  

The ideal candidate must possess knowledge of tools and their use; and the ability to read, write and perform mathematical computations.  This candidate must be able to have the ability to learn complicated laboratory procedures, ability to work, learn and progress in a career-type position and must possess a good physical condition and sound metal alertness.

The ideal candidate must be able to work inside and out-of-doors in various weather conditions with:  chemicals, solvents, electrical energy and odors.  The candidate will work at heights (up to 60 feet) and works in or with moving objects.

A Pre-certified Operator C trainee is preferred. To be eligible for hire as a Pre-certified Trainee, the following criteria must be completed upon hire:

Have successfully completed an approved State of Florida required training course work for the Class “C” level examination.
Provide documentation of the Class “C” level training course work completion.
Successfully taken and passed the State of Florida Class “C” certification examination.
Provide documentation indicating passing of the Class “C” examination.

 

Minimum Qualification:

Applicant must be a High School graduate or possess a General Education Diploma (GED). In addition, must have a valid Florida Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record.
