POSITION TITLE: ACCOUNTING CLERK

MINIMUM STARTING SALARY: $31,200.00
The City of Lake City is accepting applications for the position of Accounting Clerk. This position will be responsible for Accounting work and functions, including but not limited to, invoice payment, payroll preparation, financial database and records maintenance. Must perform daily calculating, posting and verifying duties to obtain primary financial data for use in maintaining accounting and/or payroll records. Master all applicable software, organizational processes and procedures. May include but not limited to, processing invoices, payroll preparation, and online financial processes. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Finance Director.
The ideal candidate will have knowledge of and ability to process payroll, including hours of work and overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act; the ability to learn and apply the principles of accounting rules and regulations; the ability to skillfully operate computers and relevant software and other business machines; the ability to make mathematical calculations with reasonable speed and accuracy; and possess above average knowledge of Word and Excel spreadsheets.
Minimum qualifications:
Applicant must have a high school diploma or general education diploma (GED) and three (3) years of accounting experience including data input and PC operations. Applicant must possess a valid Florida Driver’s License. Applicant will be required to pass a background check, pre-employment physical and drug screen.
