Police Sponsorship Information

The Lake City Police Department is proud to offer scholarship opportunities annually starting October 1 of each year. These opportunities are available to civilians interested in the full LEO Academy and Florida Corrections Officers interested in crossover courses.
Those interested should complete the application for "Police Officer - Sponsorship" under the Career Opportunities link. This opening is not available all year; do check back often.

Those selected for the sponsorship program are hired and receive a salary of $15 hourly.
Upon completion of training and passing the State exam, pay is increased to the starting salary for a police officer.

All newly hired police officers receive approximately three months of on the job training. They are required to pass all portions of this training before being released to work alone.
