Summer Youth Employment Program

Click here to go back to the Programs main page.
Originally launched in 2019, this initiative was created as a proactive way to engage local youth and build positive relationships with law enforcement. Research shows that idle time during summer months—when school is out and structured activities are limited—can be linked to an increase in mischief and petty crimes. This program aims to counteract that trend by providing meaningful employment opportunities that help students build their résumés and gain valuable professional references.
Participants will work Monday through Thursday, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with a one-hour lunch break from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. To support personal and career growth, each Thursday will include a one-hour professional development session led by guest speakers from various industries. Students will earn $13 per hour and have the opportunity to earn up to $2,496 before taxes during the course of the program.
